Important Milestones- Government Polytechnic, Aurangabad

• Established in the year 1955 with three branches Civil Engg., Mechanical Engg. and Electrical Engg. each of 60 intakeand having intake qualification Secondary School Certificate (SSC).
• Diploma in Electronics and Radio Engineering was introduced from the year 1978 having intake qualification Higher Secondary School Certificate (HSC)
• Part time diploma programmes in Civil and Mechanical Engineering having intake of 30 were introduced in the year 1976.
• Diploma in Industrial Electronics having intake 30 was introduced from the academic year 1982-83
• Diploma in Dress Designing and Garment Manufacturing (DDGM) was introduced from the academic Year 1992-93.
• Academic Autonomy is granted to the institute by Government of Maharashtra in the year 1994
• Institute started developing its own curriculum from the year 1994.
• Institute has started evaluation and certification from the year 1994
• First batch of Autonomous institute has come out in the year 1997.
• Institute got Best Polytechnic Award from Govt. of Maharashtra in the year 1996.
• Diploma in Electronics and Radio Engineering was discontinued from the academic year
• Diploma in Information Technology was introduced in the year 2001.
• Four Programmes (Civil, Mechanical, Electrical and Industrial Electronics) of the Institute were accredited by National Board of Accreditation in the year 2003. Institute was the first amongst all institutes in the region and one of the few institutes in the Maharashtra to get accreditation.
• Institute has organized National Conference on Emerging Trends in Engineering Education
• Institute has organized IT literacy campaign in 149 villages of Marathwada region. Entire campaign was organized in collaboration and funds of Marathwada Statutory Development Board.
• From the academic year 2001-02 Diploma in Industrial Electronics was discontinued and Diploma in Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering was introduced with the intake of 60.
• Institute received ISTE Narsee-Monjee Award : “The Polytechnic having Best Overall Performance – 2006”.
• Intake of Diploma in Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering was increased to 120 from the academic year 2007-2008.
• Diploma in Computer Engineering having intake 30 was introduced from the academic year 2009-2010
• Diploma in Automobile Engineering having intake 30 was introduced from the academic year 2009-2010
• Institute received Engg. Education Foundation ‘s Award :“The Polytechnic having Best Overall Performance – 2010”
• Institute has started community college from the year 2014.
